About Me

Hello!

I’m Ina O’ Murchu, an award-winning technologist, educator, and early adopter of emerging technologies. My work focuses on the evolution of the internet from the Semantic Web to AI agents and Web3 data systems. I have been involved in Semantic Web technologies since 2003, working with ontologies, structured data, and knowledge-driven systems long before the recent resurgence of interest in knowledge graphs and AI reasoning frameworks.

I hold an MSc in Web Science from DERI – the Digital Enterprise Research Institute, now known as the Insight Centre. DERI was one of the world’s leading research centres for Semantic Web Research. My thesis was titled “Connecting Local Community Groups with Semantic Web Technologies.” The research explored how ontologies and structured data could connect communities, services, and online networks through machine-readable knowledge systems. These ideas are now re-emerging as foundational components in modern AI agent architectures and knowledge graph systems.

Today, as artificial intelligence evolves toward autonomous agents and reasoning systems, many of the principles developed by the Semantic Web community are becoming increasingly relevant. Modern AI platforms are beginning to combine:

• Large language models
• Knowledge graphs
• Ontologies
• Semantic web services
• Autonomous AI agents

In many ways, the technology industry is rediscovering that the Semantic Web community was simply ahead of its time.

Alongside my research interests, I run Social Web Strategy, a digital transformation company that helps organisations navigate emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, Web3, and data-driven systems. Over the years, I have delivered digital strategy and content campaigns for organisations internationally, helping companies scale their online presence and grow product sales through data-led marketing and technology adoption.

I am also regularly invited to speak about:

• Artificial intelligence and AI agents
• Web3 and decentralised data systems
• The future architecture of the internet

Through talks, workshops, and educational programmes, I aim to help organisations and communities better understand how these technologies are shaping the next generation of the web. Many of the ideas and experiments I am currently working on can be explored in the Labs section of this website.
